What is LOVE? Ladies of Variety is a group of professional women developing a series of unique events with a view of fundraising to support Variety Queensland. The ladies of Variety represent the elegant and sophisticated face of Variety Queensland in all the work they do. LOVE was established to engage professional women in fun, fexceptional and indulgent events that help Variety Queensland reach out to children in need. "Our events will stand out on the charity/fundraising calendar, as we aim to provide sophisticated and exclusive events that allow women to have fun while knowing they are making an important difference to disadvantaged and disabled children," said Julie Maher, Chairperson of the LOVE committee and Managing Director of Smart Media Management. All money raised (more than $160,000 in 2005) by Ladies of Variety helped LOVE to supply five liberty swings to communities around Queensland. Liberty swings, each costing $32,000 to purchase and install, enable children in wheelchairs to experience the freedom to play alongside their friends in local parks.
